Light & Dark

Your hand decides your attribute, and a card you play affects every player who shares that attribute. A move that helps you often helps others too — embracing that dilemma is the heart of the game.

How attributes are decided

Compare the Light and Dark cards in your hand. More Light makes you a Light one, more Dark a Dark one, and an equal count a Neutral one. Change your hand and your attribute changes with it.

★ Key point: attributes shift dynamically

Playing a card removes it from your hand at that instant, which can change the active player's own attribute. Effects are judged by your attribute after the card is played, so if you play "Light ones +2" and that very move turns you Neutral, you gain nothing. Conversely, you can deliberately drop your own attribute so a card hits only your opponents.

Turn flow

On your turn you must play exactly one card (no passing). The effect applies to everyone of the matching attribute, including you. Gains, losses, ×0, ×2, and forced discards all resolve immediately.

Ending and winning

Your last card can never be played. Anyone down to one card skips their turn, and the game ends once everyone is at one card or fewer. If your final card carries an end effect, it is added to or multiplies your score (play effects are not counted at the end). Highest score wins. At the end you count as a Light one if you hold Light, a Dark one if Dark, and a Neutral one if you have no cards.

The back color of an opponent's cards (gold = Light / indigo = Dark) gradually reveals their attribute. When to hold your attribute and when to break it is where games are won.
